Chemung Family Dental is a fee-for-service practice. We work for you, not for an insurance company, so the care we recommend is based on your health rather than on what a network contract allows.
Most dental PPO plans still pay toward your care at our office as out-of-network benefits. Our team files every claim on your behalf and helps you get the most from the coverage you already pay for.

Insurance questions
Do you take my insurance?
We are a fee-for-service office, which means we are not tied to any one insurance network. That does not mean your insurance stops working. If you have a dental PPO plan, it usually pays toward your care here as an out-of-network provider. We file the claim for you. Call us with your plan details and we will check your benefits.
What does fee-for-service mean for me?
It means your treatment is recommended on what is best for your health, not on what a network contract allows. You receive a clear estimate before treatment, we submit the claim to your insurance company, and your plan reimburses according to its out-of-network benefits.
Will I pay more than at an in-network office?
It depends on your plan. Some plans pay out-of-network care at a similar rate, others at a lower one. The only way to know is to check your specific benefits, which our team is glad to do before your visit.
Who files the insurance claim?
We do. Our team submits your claim and works to help you get the most from your benefits.
Is my estimate a guarantee?
No. An estimate is our best reading of your benefits based on the information your plan gives us. Your insurance company makes the final decision on what it pays, and any difference is your responsibility. We explain all of this before treatment starts so there are no surprises.
Do you accept Medicaid or Fidelis?
We are not enrolled with Medicaid or Fidelis, so those plans will not pay toward care at our office. You are still welcome here. Call us and we will walk you through what your visit would cost, along with financing options.
Does medical insurance cover sleep apnea treatment?
Often, yes. Oral appliances for diagnosed obstructive sleep apnea are billed to medical insurance, not dental, and we accept Medicare for medically necessary appliances. Read more about medical coverage for oral appliance therapy.

We tell you before treatment, not after. Then we look at your options together, including spreading the cost with Cherry or CareCredit.
